Adanacs Acquire Williamson from Delta

The Coquitlam Jr Adanacs and the Delta Islanders completed a trade of player rights today. The Adanacs acquired from the Islanders the playing rights to 21 year old left-hander, Corey Williamson (6’ 3” 190) who compiled in 2007 for the Delta Jr A squad 15g-18a-33pts in 15 regular season games. He has not played for Delta Jr A in 2008.

Delta acquired from Coquitlam two young Intermediate prospects, one a 2007 Coquitlam draft selection. Left hander 6’ 2” Ryan Chan was selected in the 5th round in 2007 and played Intermediate A for the Adanacs in 2007 putting 5g-5-a-10pts in 18 games.  Also acquired by Delta was Stewart Catcheway, a goaltender who in 2007 played for Port Moody, the silver medal winners at that year’s Provincial Intermediate B championship.  Catcheway is playing in 2008 for the Delta Islanders Intermediate A team.

“We give up youth and future prospects, but what we gain is experience, size and a big shot to add to the team’s arsenal”, said Adanac GM Ken Wood. “We watched Corey all of last season and tried to acquire him at the trade deadline.   We are very glad to bring him on board for this season. He has played in Junior A, he knows what it takes and he is productive. To acquire all of that and to add him to our roster we feel very good about”, finished Wood.
